Mining for gems at Foggy Mountain Gem Mine is both fun and educational. You can purchase ore mix in a size that fits your time and budget requirements. Mine with everything from a small two-gallon bucket to a massive 33-gallon wheelbarrow. These buckets are full of gems such as real emeralds, sapphires, aquamarine, rose quartz, topaz, and rubies. 

Adults and children will enjoy this treasure hunt. You can spend time learning about the gems and have fun souvenirs to take home. 

Take a Walk on the Cascades Trail

If you are itching to do a bit of outdoor adventuring, escape to Cascades Trail. The Cascades Trail is an easy 1.2-mile hike great for all ages and abilities. This hike features a beautiful waterfall. 

While this trek isn’t very long, it’s a great opportunity to view some beautiful North Carolina landscape with a rewarding waterfall view. It’s exactly what a mid-afternoon hike should be.
